Video of our final rehearsal of the Final 4th movement of the 'Symphony of the South' - 'Isambard's Inventions'
The children use body percussion and vocal sounds to create a 'train'. We then bring in recorders to make the 'whistle'.
Combi bells pitched D and F are added in support of long hummed notes, then bells pitched A and C are layered on top before two competing ostinati:
'I - will - build - a - long - bridge' (in 6/4)
and
'Is-am-bard - King-dom - Bru-nel' (in 7/4) are heard one after the other and then together.
During one of our workshop sessions the group worked on creating mixed media artworks in support of their Musical compositions. The Children made one Panel for each movement of their music. The four finished pieces can be seen below and are titled 'Suspended Senses', 'Isambard's Inventions', 'Rolling River' and 'Local Landmarks'.
